Yarn and Fabric with Kapok Fiber

Kapok fibres can be easily mixed with cotton, silk, duck down, wool, cashmere and other synthetic fibres to dilute fabric compositions. Kapok plants are sustainable and do not require replanting every year. Air-filled hollow tubes of kapok fibre have thermal insulation, making it the most suitable winter clothing, i.e., hats, gloves, socks, underwear for men and women, sportswear and pyjamas. Kapok fibre can support up to 30 times of its weight in water and lose only 10 per cent of its buoyancy over 30 days. It is an environmentally friendly alternative as it can reduce the use and import of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and textile chemicals. These benefits have contributed to higher consumption of value-added kapok products, enhanced job creation opportunities for a local community, reduced carbon emissions, and helped with significant rainforest conservation.
